My goal is to make this the Definitive List of Google Acquisitions. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated in providing any additional information that I may have overlooked or information that may not be 100% accurate. I put a lot of time and research into this as I follow Google Acquisitions closely.
I'll have to give credit where it is due and thank William (Bill) Slawski (SEO by the SEA) for his continued coverage on Google Acquisitions and Patents.
I'd like to give credit to the Wiki Editor for the Google Acquisitions page. Although some of the Wiki information may be incorrect/inaccurate. ;)
And of course credit is due to The Official Google Blog for keeping us informed as these acquistions become final.

How much did they spend in total?
Hard to say at this point as many of the amounts were "undisclosed". I'd have to guess over $7.5 Billion?

But seeing them on a master list is impressive.
It kind of gives you a different perspective when you see them all in one list. Digging for them all really gives you a different perspective. ;)
Is it possible to add the purchase price also?
I will add that to the todo list and put together what I can. I'm hoping other WebmasterWorld members will come to my rescue and provide some assistance with adding more information. Assembling the list and verifying dates and timeline was a task in itself.

Here's the way I see it...
If you have a technology that fits in with Google's culture, and you've developed that technology and have started a following, you are on Google's Acquisition radar. From what I'm seeing by following the timeline and connecting the dots, Google is not going to let any new technology take the limelight unless their name is on it.
The 2002 year seemed like a year of planning? No acquisitions that I can immediately find. Its almost like they were waiting in limbo to see where the market was heading and then WHAM, the acquisitions start and continue from that point forward.
Seriously, if you have an application that you've developed and you've done it better than everyone else, including Google, you may end up on the above list of companies acquired by Google. ;)
The developer of the Vutool mapping software, Sebastian Thrun who is Director of the Stanford AI Lab notes on his homepage that in his spare time, he also works for a landscaping company. The phrase "landscaping company" is a link to a Google Map at 1600 amphitheatre, mountain view, ca. Joke? Or is he a part time Googler?
Techcrunch reported at the end of March that his company had been acquired.
