I've long been a firefox convert, but recently have developed a problem I can't seem to fix. A problem big enough to leave me here using IE 7 now instead.

Here's what happens. I'll launch Firefox. Surf the web. All works well. And then, out of the blue, Firefox just simply "takes over" all CPU resources. In task manager, it shows anywhere from 95-99% CPU resources being used by Firefox. And Firefox just won't "let go" of these resources, no matter what I try or do, short of shutting down the browser completely.

When Firefox takes over these resources, surfing becomes incredibly slow, painful and my computer operates as one might guess very, very slow.

So my question is, why is Firefox mysteriously taking over my computer resources and not letting them go? What can I do to fix it? I much prefer Firefox to IE, but right now, Firefox is simply killing my "surfing experience."
