Hi, I'm new to the forum. I'm a consultant who markets my services primarily through networking, speaking engagements and workshops. I would like to use Facebook to market events like these, perhaps even paid workshops and training. I have been trying to research the best ways to target small business owners on Facebook. I have a few issues that Google is not helping me with.
1. As of now, the only way to target small business owners in general is under 'Behaviors.' I'm wary of this for a number of reasons. It is not found in the 'Work' section, it is found in the 'Digital Activities' section. To me, that could mean a number of things. Like, for instance, small businesses engaged in digital activities (web dev, online selling, etc). It just seems odd that it's in the Digital Activities section instead of the Work section.
2. Assuming it is a general small business owner segmentation, I can't find any information on the composition of the audience. How do they define small business? Is it mostly 1-10 person operations? 20-30? Who knows. Is there any way to better focus it? If you target higher owner income levels are you more likely to get 'larger' businesses or 'more successful' businesses or what.
3. How can you use 'Interests' to better focus the campaign? Are there interests associated with small business owners that may reveal the products and services they are interested in?
4. Lastly, the one interest I was able to find that may help me is 'Training,' since part of my consultancy is training-related. But the training interest is ill defined and might cover 'personal training' or 'job training' or 'fitness training' or 'business training' or whatever. So I don't know if it will help me. Does anyone understand what Facebook means by training, or is it simply a passive reflection of a general term Facebook users put in their profile.
Insights, please?
