For a site I know that I can trust (or at least, should be able to trust) I'm getting a "This certificate was signed by an unknown authority." warning when trying to navigate to the site.
This is a multi-national corporation and an e-commerce site.
Has anyone else seen this warning for a "VeriSign Class 3 Extended Validation SSL SGC CA" type certificate or know anything about that type of certificate and why it might give this kind of warning?
More importantly, what (if anything) should I tell the owners of this domain about this and how to resolve it?
Thanks!

Yeah - old safari versions use an SSL library that doesn't recognize extended validation certs - there's been a fair bit written about it.

Only solution is to upgrade safari, unless it's a different issue. What version of safari is it?

It may be a problem with the intermediate not being installed on the server hosting the website. You will see this error message using all browsers except IE, no matter what version of browser you are using.

The best option would be to contact the company and make them aware of this issue so they can install the intermediate and avoid this problem for all their customers.
