If folks come along and know the answer, you'll often see replies come in quite quickly. Two things are happening right now, though.

First, we are in the midst of a holiday season in many countries which means less traffic on forums as folks are off visiting family and friends. That may account for some of the lack of activity you normally see around here.

Second, I see the message topic you are referring to [webmasterworld.com] is specific to MS Access. Not a lot of webmasters use that particular database for online processing. It just may be that nobody has an answer to help you out :(

You'll often find excellent assistance here on the WebmasterWorld Database forum but you may also want to try searching the Microsoft support site and forums for your answer as well. Just an idea to try and help you along, john1000!

well i did search for access 2003 and the result gave a few topics in this forum....thats why i posted it here...
Although my father in law is 72 he's still very active in community services and realy wanted to help him.
I have zero knowledge of this.
And he tried searching microsoft info but with no luck..

I doubt it is a db related problem/feature. Try searching for a way to format a merge with Word. Instead of using the date directly from the db something like this might work: Format({datefield}, "m-d-yy"). I don't know the exact syntax but you get the idea.

if you search access 2003

Don't search for 'Access'. Search for 'Word'. The format did not change in the Access DB. It changed in the new version of Word. In fact, don't even search the Internet for the answer. Use the help in Word for the formatting options.

well i just called him again and he says (translated best as i can)..
he has a pre-designed letter in word that he sends to new members...
so when he runs a query in the access db it dumps the info into word...
like name , address , telephone number etc....
but in the field of the date word suddenly shows the date in u.s style.
like 5/10/2007 instead of 10-05-2007

pre-designed letter in word

Right. He needs to change that template to include the formatting he wants.

Hi,

I found a reference to the following by a MVP(microsoft valued person)

I hope this is not against the TOS

www.gmayor.com/ formatting_word_fields.htm

I might be needing to do the same stuff soon, so i did a search, basically, yah need to edit the merge fields

P.S. Mods , if the info is not okay, kindly delete it
