First, have you copyrighted/trademarked your software in your country? For steps to do that locate your copyright laws for your country, which at the same time will indicate what steps you might take to protect your copyright (as copyright does not require registration, but certainly helps in legal cases and possible damages). Trademark is different and does require registration.

If you're asking how to protect any software from infringement, copy, or other unlicensed or illegal use, join the club of those seeking a magic bullet to do that. At present only due diligence and going after the infringing party via legal action is the option of choice. Anything else is mummery.

Hi ChandraPeers and welcome to the forums. Software, like music, art and writing is intellectual property and what tangor says is accurate as far as what can be done to protect your work. Piracy, unauthorized use and reverse engineering to create slightly different works is an industry. Building in safeguards to help protect your work and and any income derived from it is almost a contest to see who can monitor and challenge better than it can be exploited. Laws vary around the world and it is the laws of your country that you have to rely on to help you protect your property.

There are legal firms and industry groups and services that can assist. You need to research how others in your business and location are protecting their work and follow the lead of larger businesses whose work is similar to yours. No matter what you spend for monitoring and legal help, prevention is not possible. The goal is limiting success of those who violate your copyrights or trademarks.
