For years I've always wanted to add some related content on my site on a topic I am not comfortable putting together myself. Why? I know very little about the subject matter but they go hand in hand with my widgets.

I got a misc email from somebody looking for a link addition and it fit perfect with my site. In fact I offered a site wide menu link if they could put together a few original articles with illustrations and pictures.

Now they want a stupid contract. Guess what my answer is?

A few details:

1.to post and maintain the articles without alteration;
2.to keep all links in the article pointing to widgets.com;
3.not to post these articles elsewhere electronically or in print;
4.not to post ads, links, or images of other widget websites or stores on the same page URL as the articles appear;
5.not to send unsolicited emails that include information about or links to widgets.com
6.to, for the duration of the agreement, post display banner logo ads for widgets.com on yoursite.com
7.to timely remove the articles from yoursite.com at our request.

By the way, their site gets little if any traffic. What do these people expect from me? I offered a great deal (banners site wide navigation link) for practically nothing and now they want to ruin a potentially good "partnership"?

I have no problem with #3,5 but come on fellas.

Agreed. To counter, what would be your own 'contract' for those whose links and/or content you would like? ;-)
