In the United States (and maybe other countries), you don't have to register anything. Anything you write is automatically copyrighted. You don't have to tell the government and you don't have to put a copyright notice on it.

It always depend on the country, in some countries (mine for instance) - you don't have any "copyright" unless it is a "substantial creative work" - facts, ideas, theories, dictionaries, encyclopedias, forget it - almost no rights, unless used for commercial gain in its wholeness.

Do you mind telling us where is your country? How could your government differentiate, let say, a blog and "facts and ideas"?
