Forum Moderators: not2easy
Recently I got a link request from pretty much a competitors site, however I guess they didn’t see it that way because my site has more sections, including a regular news column and it’s not obvious I guess that the goal is the same.
Now, what I’ve found is that this person is actually looking at my site regularly and has worded certain news headlines similar to mine in their news section. Not a full copy and paste but you can see where the inspiration came from. My site is not actually that popular yet although it is getting there, but I guess maybe they see it as more of an authority site for widgets, hence them looking at it regularly.
Part of me is annoyed, but part of me thinks, well maybe I’m doing well with the content etc.
I’m wondering what others here have done when they have found this? Should I do anything? Or should I just concentrate on increasing my site’s popularity and ignore him?
Cheers
If you can get your content syndicated on their site with links back to you that would be great. The more you write the more links to your site you have. Goog would see his site pointing to yours for content and it is pretty good at figuring out who is authoritative, so assuming you are SEO'd and linking back to the original article I would say ink the deal. You can even try to charge X credits a month to license the content.
