I'm thinking about composing some videos for youtube. Ie suppose I have a locality site. My thought was to do a video with some video, slide show type photos and voice over and background music

The first items, video and voice over and photos are really easy. The music part is where I have a question.

I'm wondering if there are any sources for public domain midi files or if there are any services such as the paid clip art sites that are available that would allow me to download the midis and then incorporate them in the video

My thinking on the midis is that, if the midi file is truly public domain or royalty free, then I could use it without having to worry about musician's fees etc.

Elevator type music or classical would probably be what I was looking for.

By the way, the long range plan here is to try to put together some relatively decent videos, have them branded with the url of the site at the title and ending credits and perhaps drive some traffic to the site(s).

I'd appreciate any thoughts.

thanks

A quick look for copyright free music via your favourite search engine will show that there are many companies offering such things on a basis akin to buying royalty-free images; it's a big business.

Thanks...

I also found out that my subscription to a clip art service includes some royalty free midis.

I've been doing some research since I posted and I think that I have most of what I need-

A youtube account
pics and video I own
access to at least some royalty free midi files for background
An audio mixer (once I fix my codecs - Again)
A video Mixer
An external hard drive since my internal is almost maxed

All I need to do is make sure I can watermark whatever videos I put up to ensure that they have the potential to drive traffic.

thanks again

I want to add one other thing I just discovered. The video editing software I use (the free version that came with the video capture device) has the ability to add a whole mix of background music - New age, jazz, rock, classical etc. The neat thing is that you can stretch the music object over the timeframe you want and it fills in without, in my opinion, being overy repetitive.

In other words, I don't have to hunt for royalty free music right now. The video editing software gives me what I need for the time being
