Sheesh. I posted a Press Release and send it out to my email list. Someone posted it on a blog and now I want it removed because the Release is now old news. The blogger won't remove it, the blog owner is giving me a hard time and is going ask their lawyer for advice.
Why can't these people just respect my request and remove it? What do I do?
Any lawyers here or someone that has had a similiar problem?
Whew!Thanks,
ec
Interesting conundrum; by it's very nature, a press release is 'in the public domain', so in the general, I suspect you have few rights concerning its use.
More realistically, I very much doubt anyone will be reading old blogs; you found it by searching for something pretty specific; the chances of many other people finding old news is pretty remote.
Thanks for your opinion. In my Release, I have a dead link and it's old news. The owner of the site is resisting by emailing me back and forth over and over again trying to dissuade me. It's frustrating and time-consuming.
Wht can't people just be decent and honor a simple request?
Sheesh!

What's his (stated) reasons for his unwillingness?
Either way, the chances of it doing you any damage are remote in the extreme.
Think about it; if you sent a paper press release, you wouldn't sweat it if it got superceded, would you?
It's something to think about for the next one ...
Well, the obvious solution to me is make that link LIVE, with some new content.
Removes hat in amazement :)
The simple solutions are so often the best. I'll never forgive you for me not thinking of that. ;)
In order to regain some self esteem, could I add that he could 301 from the 'dead link' to the current one?
Thanks for your opinions and time. They removed the Release after they talked with their legal council.
It was like pulling teeth. :( ouch!
The blogger insisted on keeping it their, so I got in touch with the site owner.
I asked another site to remove it (in Can.) and they promptly removed it.
The blog site is in the U.S.
Case closed.
Thanks again for your opinions.
