It's become a bigger problem for everyone: Fake reviews. Real users don't want them, and companies don't want them. The only people that want them are those happy to fool everyone into thinking something is better, or worse than it really is.
According to the latest report I read at CNET, Amazon is trying to tackle the problem of fake reviews using artificial intelligence. What a great idea!
It's rolling out in the US now, but there's no information when, and if it'll be extended to all the other Amazon properties.
Amazon is rolling out a big change to its customer reviews system in the US, introducing a new machine-learning platform it developed in-house to surface newer and more helpful reviews.
"The system will learn what reviews are most helpful to customers...and it improves over time," Amazon spokeswoman Julie Law said in an interview. "It's all meant to make customer reviews more useful." Amazon Uses Artificial Intelligence To Tackle Fake Product Reviews [cnet.com]
