...Yet within three days of the campfire, a dispute erupted between Google and Facebook, its largest partner in the new service, that reflected the fact that for Web companies there is nothing casual about the business of Internet socializing: There's too much money, maybe billions, at stake.Facebook, the burgeoning social network, abruptly withdrew its support for Google's Friend Connect, meaning that none of Facebook's tens of millions of members could sign in to Web sites using Google's new service.
Coming so soon after the highly publicized launch, it was an embarrassing rift for both sides. Many view the ongoing standoff as a contest with far-reaching implications for Web socializing.

He has a sad view of human interaction: (quoting from article which quotes part of a speeh he made)
"..two friends can communicate offline if one of them picks up the phone to call the other, or if they take some time to hang out, or if they randomly bump into each other. But these methods are all synchronous -- they're kind of inefficient. In order for them to work, both people have to be paying attention to each other at the same time"
Geez -- imagine that, people "paying attention to each other at the same time" -- and doing so without a PC and internet connection between them. Maybe marriages will last longer if they use the Zuckerberg Method for human interaction:
(conversation via IM)
Husband: I'm in the bedroom. Where you at?
Wife: I'm in the den. Wazup?
Husband: nuthin, just wanted to tell ya I just had great sex by myself.
Wife: Oh, me too.. 'bout an hour ago -- glad you weren't here to interrupt.
Husband: I'm gonna get pizza delivered for myself.
Wife: I'm gonna make a sandwich and watch Family Guy.
Husband: ok, LUV YA
Wife: ttyl
I don't know, but I didn't like Facebook from the beginning (nothing really happening there, a part from stalking-like-picture-viewing), and that Zuckerberg guy is really starting to get on my nerves. I actually remember what really tuned me off from Facebook when it launched: do you remember that footer at the bottom saying something like: "A Mark Zuckerberg Production"! What the hell, it's a website man, not a movie, no need for credits.
