I've been reading tonight about reading level for content. Does Google take into consideration certain reading levels for a blog's content compared to others? For instance, does it have higher standards put in place for a medical blog compared to a blog about some pop star on the Disney channel?
Also, let's say your customers aren't medical students and you sell something as simple as whoopie cousins. Are the standards dropped and does content that is written to well, in some way hurt because it doesn't appeal to your audience.
I ask because both me and my competitors want to rank for the exact same keyword: fake widget. When I go to Google's site to compare the data, I am shocked.
COMPETITOR #1:
Basic: 9%
Intermediate: 88%
Advanced: 3%
COMPETITOR: #2:
Basic6%
Intermediate86%
Advanced8%
MY SITE:
Basic: 20%
Intermediate: 77%
Advanced: 3%
Is this telling me that I need to raise my intermediate content and lower basic? My basic is much higher. Also are there tools to scan my content and rewrite it, making adjustments until I approve it enough.
I'm seriously considering hiring writers.
