Chinese search engine Baidu has deleted 2.8m works from its online library, Baidu Wenku, in an attempt to settle a copyright dispute with writers.
The company said that the latest move meant all infringing material had been removed from its library.
"By Tuesday afternoon we had removed almost 2.8 million files, mainly from the Literary Works section of the site, which was the primary concern of the writers and publishers," Baidu spokesperson Kaiser Kuo told the BBC.
This article caught my eye because Baidu unlike Google made apologies for the theft and was making an effort to return the “ill gotten” gains to the authors. Why can’t Google do the same as Baidu? I’m tired of filing one DMCA complaint after another and Google and its Adsense publishers waltzing away with the proceeds of the theft. Furthermore you deal with the same people time after time because there is no incentive on Google’s part to clean up its act. I don’t want to hear why Google can’t give back the money like Baidu but why they haven’t been doing it since the get go. Until then Google will always remain thieves in my eyes. Google to me always finds a way to collect off somebody else’s copyrights either by crook or hook. I’m sure thieves love it but what about the honest people trying to make a living.
Plus if you're wondering, for years, I've been asking Google every time I file an Adsense DMCA for my money?

To outland88: You won't say that if you knew the whole story. Google is doing much much better than Baidu.

Regardless of the facts both engines should be reimbursing the copyright holders. What's the commercial that says? It's my money and I want it now!
