A client is starting a web site aimed at selling Australian widgets - in Australia and abroad.
I have advised them to buy aussiewidgets.com, ozziewidgets.com and ozzywidgets.com (as well as the .com.au versions obviously).
However, we are having problems deciding which version to make the 'primary' name and which ones to park, or 301 redirect.
Anyone got any opinions as to which is the more popular spelling. Also, bearing in mind that this site would be targetting non-Australians as much as Australians, would the perceptions be different between Australians and non Australian?
Vote here. Ozzie, Aussie or Ozzy?
If aiming purely at Australians, then I would make the .com.au the primary to facilitate listings in Australian versions of the major engines. I am assuming you are aware of the restrictions placed on .au domains?
Onya
Woz
ok.. Aussie is a given but just Oz is also used (Mostly by non Australians)
For the selection of the main domain name - it should be respectable (not too off beat). You could include your mispellings within the content of the website, but your domain name is important to gain credibility.
Australian or Australia within the domain if appropriate (and is not going to make it too long) could be another choice.
other alternatives might be:
aust
aus
au
stralia
etc etc
I see Oz used a lot in Oz but it doesn't work well overseas.
Ozzie and Ozzy would not work for Australians.
